Teacher Support Drive

Join us in blessing teachers and students at Hilda J. Barbour Elementary School, which serves a high proportion of students from low-income families, by donating school supplies for their classrooms. This is a meaningful way to build relationships and share God’s love in the very places where our church family lives and works.

The Teacher Support Drive begins on July 6, with teachers’ specifically requested items posted in the church entryway. Items should be brought to the church and placed on the table near the Fellowship Hall by July 27 or alternately, delivered to the school by August 1. Questions? Contact Larissa Lisk or Deb Dunn.

Ongoing Opportunities:

WRM has been serving men, women, and children experiencing homelessness and poverty in our community since 1973. Deeply rooted in their history is a love of Christ and a desire to share that love with others through critical services and life-changing programs. Resident shelter, hot meals served, and a “market”, in partnership with Blue Ridge Food Bank, are some ways WRM serves Winchester.

Ways to serve at the WRM

  • Weekdays between 8am and 6:30pm; serving lunch or dinner, collecting food donations from the community, helping to distribute donations at the “market”, staffing the welcome desk,  among many other ways to serve.
  • Weekends;  serving lunch or dinner.
  • Browse specific volunteer opportunities in the POINT app once you have attended an orientation.

Who to contact at the WRM

  • Download the POINT App and search for Winchester Rescue Mission, sign up to attend an orientation at the mission.
  • Contact Sam Rogers with questions.
